New chief for Parsons Brinckerhoff

Keith J. Hawksworth has been named as the new chief executive at Parsons Brinckerhoff (PB), starting on 1 January 2008. Outgoing chief executive Thomas J. O’Neill will remain as the firm’s chairman.

O’Neill says, “PB continues to grow strongly in all of our markets throughout the world. Our strategy for growth and improved returns now makes it sensible to separate the roles of chief executive and chairman. My focus will be to lead the board in ensuring that we successfully develop our strategy for growth. Keith brings to the CEO role an outstanding track record of leadership in the infrastructure business and a strong commitment to the quality of service to our clients that has been the hallmark of PB for nearly 125 years.”

PB engineers intelligent transportation systems – designing, integrating and implementing strategic plans for technologically advanced traffic management systems. The New York-based company has 10,500 employees worldwide.

Hawksworth says, “I look forward to this challenge and will use the next six weeks to transition into the role while sharing my ideas and vision with my management team worldwide. This is an extraordinary time for infrastructure services firms and I am eager to continue to position PB as a global leader. I intend to have the best team working with me to accomplish my goals, and to continue to serve our clients and the communities they serve in the most efficient and effective manner.”
