Yotta DCL to survey London borough's highway assets

Yotta DCL has won a contract from the London Borough of Hillingdon for a digital video survey of the borough’s highway assets. The company will capture street-level images along the borough’s 500km (310 miles) road network at normal traffic speeds, in order to give a fast, accurate and updated overview of a wide range of assets, including carriageway, footways, verges, cycle tracks, road markings, signs, street benches and other street furniture. The asset inventory information will be used to bring Hillingdon’s Exor computerized asset management system up to date. When the borough’s new highways maintenance budget is confirmed and available, the company will extract further inventory information from the video survey to add additional detail to the network and will provide additional professional support services.

Yotta’s video survey captures high-resolution street-level images of highways assets, including carriageways, footways, verges, cycle tracks, road signs, street name plates, bollards, road markings, verges, footways, lampposts, traffic signals and controller cabinets, using bespoke inventory capture vehicles. The vehicles are specially adapted vans equipped with high-grade inertia tracking and differential GPS software that can cover approximately 75km (46 miles) of road network per day. The company can extract detailed inventory datasets from the images and supply them geo-referenced for loading into the customer’s software package, or for using with its own Horizons Visualized Asset Management software.
