Fuel stations in Belgium to provide traffic updates

Belgian motorists will now be able to view real-time traffic information at service and refueling station across the country, in an effort to provide safer, faster and more ecologically friendly journeys. Total is displaying travel information supplied by Be-Mobile, on screens in selected outlets of its shop network in Belgium. The new system has been designed and implemented by Dobit, which specialize in offering a complete Digital Signage system. The real-time graphical overview of the traffic situation displays: traffic jams; road works; and accidents. The screens displaying the traffic information will switch views from traffic information to in-house deals for shoppers, to other relevant information.

With the new service, Total hopes to increase customer retention and also offer a ‘free-to view’ added-value service for its clientele, while also attracting new customers. The company expects that by providing Belgian motorists with the ability to better monitor traffic flows, they can optimize their travel plans more efficiently. Be-Mobile’s traffic information is based on a combination of vehicle travel times, road sensor data and driver feedback. Jan Cools, CEO of Be-Mobile said, “Be-Mobile is extremely proud to work with two industry pioneers such as Total and Dobit, this perfect marriage of distribution, data and platform is an innovative way to ensure that Belgian motorists remain as informed as possible.”
