Engineering Technologist – Intelligent Transportation Systems – Southwest Research Institute

Job Summary:
Serve as an IT and helpdesk support technician for a team providing IT and system administration support for multiple deployments of Intelligent Transportation Systems. Will be responsible for providing IT administration and support to Windows-based systems.

Roles will include server administration, backup administration, database administration, and system administration for custom software and hardware support. Will be responsible for documentation and written reporting of work. Provide support for software development projects in the area of Testing, Installation, Configuration, and Maintenance.

• Requires a BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering Technology or related with at least a 3.0 GPA.
• Must have 1 - 5 years of IT, Software, and/or network/database support and administration experience. Certifications (MCSE, CompTIA A+, Network+, etc.) highly desired. Must have experience with software system, network, and/or database administration and support; experience with Windows operating systems is preferred; must have Microsoft Word and Excel experience.
• Experience with written documentation and reporting is required; experience with Microsoft Visio a plus.
• Strong interpersonal skills are required for working directly with the client and end-users.
• Experience in ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) would be highly valued.
• Must be comfortable in an Enterprise Server and Network environment so that they can provide local and remote support to custom software developed for our clients; software debugging skills and ability to troubleshoot software code are a strong plus.
• The position requires 24/7 on-call support in rotation with other staff members and will require performance of system administration task in off-hours to minimize down-time.
• Travel to deployment sites will be required.
• A valid/clear driver's license is required.
