Director of Legislative Relations – Washington State Department of Transportation

Salary: US$99,960-US$124,944 (annually)

The Opportunity:
The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is seeking a dynamic leader to fulfill the role of the Legislative Relations Director.

The director manages WSDOT’s legislative relations, providing oversight and direction to a comprehensive program that encompasses state legislators, local elected officials, and various other stakeholder groups.

This position is responsible for managing state legislative relationships and partnerships with other state agencies to guide, advance and advocate for WSDOT’s transportation priorities. 

The director provides strategic and creative thinking analysis on legislative and regulatory matters in close coordination with the Director of Tribal & Federal Relations, and advises WSDOT’s Executive Leadership team on legislative and stakeholder engagement.

The next director is an exceptional communicator; someone who has a proven track record of developing strong professional relationships with diverse groups; a person with a thorough understanding of the extensive legislative process; and has a history of successfully leading an influential program.
