UK-based building and infrastructure firm Sir Robert McAlpine has announced the appointment of Vip Gandhi as its managing director of transport. Gandhi will drive the company’s ongoing growth strategy in infrastructure and oversee the delivery of major transport projects.
Prior to joining Sir Robert McAlpine, Gandhi, who has a career that spans 30 years, was the managing director (highway and renewables) at Keltbray and was a member of the board of trustees at Safer Highways.
He previously operated in project board director positions on key infrastructure projects, including HS2, the A14 Cambridge, Lower Thames Crossing, and the A66 from Penrith to Scotch Corner. He also held senior posts at Jacobs for 20 years, including sitting on the board of RingwayJacobs.
Gandhi joins while Sir Robert McAlpine has appointed two new framework directors – Richard Parker and David Polkey – who will be responsible for the delivery of nuclear work at Sellafield.
Tony Gates, executive managing director of infrastructure at Sir Robert McAlpine, said, “I am delighted to welcome Vip as the new managing director of transport. His appointment demonstrates the continued success of our sector-based approach and I look forward to seeing him apply his talents to our UK-wide operations. Along with Richard and David’s appointments, it’s an exciting time for Infrastructure, with clear growth plans for the years ahead.”
Gandhi added, “Sir Robert McAlpine is one of the most prestigious companies in our industry, which delivers on the UK’s most important infrastructure projects, and I look forward to continuing this legacy and pursuing new growth opportunities.”
