Michigan DOT launched their Planet M webstie at this week’s (June 12-15) ITS America conference in San Jose, California. It has been created to elevate Michigan as the hub of mobility innovations and attract more business investment and jobs in the state.
The website focuses on key elements that makes Michigan the center for 21st century mobility. From infrastructure deployments on the 120-mile “smart corridor” in southeast Michigan to current and future permanent autonomous vehicle testing facilities, to cutting-edge legislation and our all-weather environment, Michigan is strategically ready to lead in the next revolution of mobility.
“Planet M represents the collective mobility efforts across Michigan around the technologies, innovations and partnerships from the private, public and academic sectors,” says Michigan DOT’s director Kirk Steudle. “This website will serve as a marketing and promotional tool we need to ensure the world knows Michigan is the place for development and testing.”
“We have a strong partnership between the state and the private sector on this topic, promoting Michigan as the place for mobility innovation,” says Michigan Economic Development Corp CEO Steve Arwood. “Everyone is aligned under the new Planet M brand to best position our state for further opportunities. Getting the website up further cements our unifying efforts.”
Planet M, and the creation of the dedicated website, will showcase Michigan as the place to build research partnerships for further development along with supporting a workforce that is ready for the next generation of transportation technologies.
