HAAS Alert, whose Safety Cloud is one of Europe’s largest commercially deployed V2X safety networks, has announced that Avon Fire & Rescue Service in the west of England, has become the first fire and rescue service in Europe to equip its fleet with digital alerting.
The Safety Cloud platform enables real-time alerting between emergency vehicles and consumer vehicles for safer and smarter roads. HAAS Alert makes roads and communities safer by delivering digital alerts from emergency response, municipal and private fleets, work zones, and connected infrastructure to nearby drivers through its vehicle communication platform.
Thanks to this activation, Avon Fire & Rescue Service will be immediately able to send out notifications to nearby drivers through Waze and other leading navigation apps, in an important step forward in protecting the public and reducing response time for emergency responders.
“We are all about leveraging the latest tools at our disposal to reduce response time,” says Matt Derrick, head of Transport and Technical Services at Avon Fire & Rescue Services. “We’re thrilled to pave the way for fire and rescue services in Europe.”
The company expanded Safety Cloud’s digital alerting coverage to Europe in November of 2023. This news comes on the heels of South East Coast Ambulance Service becoming the first ambulance fleet in Europe to be equipped with digital alerting.
“HAAS Alert is so impressed with Avon Fire & Rescue Service’s commitment to protecting the community and its crew members,” says Gareth Evans, European director of Strategy and Business Development of HAAS Alert. “Like with our activation with South East Coast Ambulance Service, we hope this initial partnership will also bring together other services, road authorities, and councils in South West England in road safety efforts.”
