Netherlands-based developer of vehicle detection, identification and access control systems Nedap has expanded its smart parking portfolio with three new next-generation products.
Nedap is continuing to expand its Sensit smart parking platform with the launch of a brand-new smart parking sensor, parking guidance smartphone application, and gateway. The platform contributes to the optimization of parking guidance and traffic flows in city centers and retail environments at its worldwide deployments, with the aim of reducing congestion and emissions while creating safer streets and more accessible destinations for visitors and retailers.
The new products will be demonstrated during this week’s European Parking Association (EPA) Congress and Exhibition in Rotterdam on September 20-22, and then at the ITS World Congress in Montreal, Canada, on October 29-November 2.
Nedap is introducing the new Sensit IR Flush Mount smart parking sensor, which combines both infrared (IR) and magnetic field detection technology into a compact design. It is installed completely recessed into the road surface, making it resistant to snow ploughs and helping avoid tripping hazards for pedestrians.
The wireless Sensit IR Flush Mount unit detects the occupancy of individual parking spaces in real time, with its obtained data transmitted to the smart parking management platform.
Nedap has also launched the Sensit P-Guide app for both Apple and Android smartphones, which enables cities, municipalities and companies to easily provide motorists with real-time parking information. The app, which can be fully customized to fit any marketing need, helps motorists easily find and navigate to available parking spaces, both on- and off-street. The P-Guide app was recently piloted in the Dutch city of Zoetermeer, where the municipality’s authorities anticipate that its introduction will lead to a more effective usage of its existing parking spaces.
The new Sensit Gateway has also been added to the Nedap portfolio, with the device offering 3G, Ethernet and GPRS communication, providing a fast and reliable interface between the wireless Sensit network and the interface software. The new design of the interface software is now completely map-oriented and enables easy configuration of any smart parking application.
“We are very proud to launch this new generation of Sensit sensors. Our products have proven to be the reliable and durable parking detection solution for years in applications all over the world,” noted Edwin Siemerink, Nedap’s Sensit proposition manager.
“With the addition of the Sensit IR, we are responding to the growing demand for highly accurate sensors that are fully flush-mounted into the road surface.”
