Italian machine vision technology developer and manufacturer, Tattile srl, has announced record sales figures and the release of its new Vega ALPR cameras.
Within the last five years, unit sales of automatic license plate recognition (ALPR) systems from Tattile’s traffic division have more than tripled. The company offers a full range of smart cameras that have been created specifically for tolling, speed enforcement, red light enforcement, traffic tracking, access control, and tunnel safety. Tattile is present on six continents and is renowned for its comprehensive R&D technical skills and after sales support throughout the lifetime of all its ALPR and traffic monitoring products.
Announcing its latest annual sales figures, Tattile’s management said, “Coming from remarkable 1,780 systems sold in 2012, we closed the year 2016 with record sales of almost 5,860 ALPR units. This adds up to almost 21,400 ALPR systems that we have brought to market in the last five years for tolling, enforcement and security purposes to customers all over the word.”
As part of its ambition to maintain a leading market position, Tattile has announced that its next generation of ALPR products is now available for delivery. First unveiled at the Gulf Traffic show, the company’s a new range of innovative smart cameras includes the Vega Basic and Vega Smart models. The main functions of the cameras are enriched by features usually obtained through external devices, reducing the foot-print and costs, while simultaneously increasing their efficiency. The new camera housings follow the current trends in design, and have been developed by the transportation division of the ED Group, one of the largest independent engineering and design companies in Italy.
The Vega Basic cameras include several new features, such as the ability to read both reflecting and non-reflecting number plates without illuminators and Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology, which allows single-cable installation. All the normal Tattile features are available, including the processor, ALPR software and an integrated web server.
The Vega Smart is fully scalable and features powerful processors and latest generation sensors, while two OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software packages increase the recognition rate. In addition, the camera can recognize the manufacturer’s brand and color of vehicles, optically classify them, and generate high quality video streams. The cameras can handle several vehicle transits per second. The new range currently includes four models: Vega Basic in b/w and color versions and Vega Smart in dual- and single-head versions. Tattile says it plans to develop further models and custom versions.
“Addressing both the immediate and future requirements of the ITS market, these cutting-edge cameras set us a step ahead in the industry,” said Massimiliano Cominelli, sales manager at Tattile’s Traffic Division. “We are currently ramping-up delivery of the new Vega Smart and Vega Basic product families to our distribution partners and are optimistic to continue the success story of Tattile traffic monitoring systems with this new product generation.”
