Intelligent transportation system (ITS) solution providers Mvis and Bartco UK have become two of the first companies in the sector to achieve the 45001:2018 accreditation for ISO health and safety management.
ISO registrations are important qualifications for transportation management firms in the tendering process. Therefore, these certifications enable the companies to further support the ITS supply chain. The new certification adds to the companies’ existing accreditations: the ISO 9001:2015 for quality management and ISO 14001:2015 for environmental management.
Completion of the three ISO standards means that Mvis and Bartco UK now have fully-integrated traffic management systems.
The companies were audited by NQA, in a process that included comprehensive site visits and checking that documented procedures were followed through. Such procedures include:
- Ensuring that full personal protective equipment (PPE) and traffic management, appropriate for road speeds, is being used;
- Ensuring deployment on-site is done in a safe manner and that all site rules are adhered to;
- Ensuring riving is safe and driving laws followed; and
- Ensuring that issues are reported back to the operations office-based team and if appropriate, are escalated to senior management.
Anne Ashman, general manager of Mvis, said, “Earning this accreditation means we now have a recognized fully integrated management system, as well as a stamp of approval that we work in a high-quality manner, environmentally conscious way, with health and safety as a priority.
“The company culture and values revolve around quality and service, and the 45001 accreditation is another undeniable display that shows we drive our values through our operations every day.”
