Kritek, provider of the cloud-native Klover Smart Transportation Platform, has formed a strategic partnership with Skyline Products, a leading provider of dynamic message signs (DMS), to offer new turnkey, smart city solutions together.
Based in Greenwood Village, Colorado, Kritek is a leading provider of intelligent transportation services, including consulting and end-to-end solutions on its flagship offering, the Klover Smart Transportation Platform. Originally developed over 10 years ago, Klover is a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) that brings together big data, cloud computing, modern browser technologies, and the Internet of Things (IoT) to create a new platform to manage agencies’ transportation infrastructure.
Since 1970, Skyline has invested heavily in research and development to create the industry’s most advanced ITS-Grade DMS systems and software solutions that are designed to help transportation agencies solve traffic flow, parking and safety problems. The company’s range of DMS are all compliant with the National Transportation Communications for Intelligent Transportation System Protocol (NTCIP) standard.
DMS are not easily integrated with other devices, particularly over a public internet connection. However, Skyline’s partnership with Kritek allows it to IoT-enable its products with Klover, meaning the company’s signs are now able to perform highly optimized, NTCIP compliant, secure, end-to-end communications, even over the public internet, without costly infrastructure, such as laying fiber optic lines for private networks. With Klover, Skyline signs become true IoT devices, and for the first time they can interact with other IoT-enabled things across complex workflows, opening up new opportunities for signage deployment and product offerings.
Klover-enabled signs are securely accessible from the cloud, so they can be easily integrated into the platform’s workflows, and managed from anywhere, at any time. Kritek and Skyline will focus on providing turnkey solutions, starting with an offering for Smart Trip Travel Times to easily provide estimated route times to the public. The companies look to extend their partnership to incorporate other turnkey solutions for smart cities, such as parking availability, pedestrian and bicycle safety, and transit.
