Total Traffic & Weather Network to market TrafficCast’s new app to US broadcasters

The leading provider of traffic and weather reports in the USA, Total Traffic & Weather Network (TTWN), has formed an exclusive nationwide agreement with TrafficCast, the leading provider of digital traffic information and technology.

As part of the multi-year partnership, TTWN will serve as the exclusive US radio and television distributor and marketing partner for TrafficCast’s new TrafficCarma smartphone application. A free commuter-focused app, TrafficCarma is designed to deliver personalized, real-time traffic information to help drivers pick the best route for their daily commute, and then update the route while drivers are on it. The app combines TTWN’s award-winning, real-time traffic incident data with TrafficCast’s advanced data analytics, application development and digital traffic technology.

With TrafficCarma, drivers can create a personalized ‘My Places’ dashboard to get instant route choice advisories, traffic information, and roadway status, for their daily commute. At a glance the personalized map allows drivers to see their best route, destination ETA and commute status. For less-distracted driving, users can listen to on-demand traffic reports. TrafficCarma also allows drivers to submit traffic tips or record their own audio and video reports using the ‘Add Incident’ button.

TrafficCarma is exclusively available through TTWN for radio and television broadcasters in the USA. The company’s traffic, transit and weather information reaches more than 196 million monthly listeners across more than 200 markets, with services to nearly 2,000 radio and 200 television affiliates, plus automotive, navigation, internet, mobile and government partners. The white-labeled traffic app is customizable for each station, and can be used in concert with existing broadcast traffic services or as a standalone product, to further extend media partners’ traffic brands on to the smartphone and serve as a new digital revenue stream.

“We are thrilled to exclusively offer radio and television broadcasters nationwide the dynamic new traffic app, TrafficCarma,” said Jack Dunkle, SVP of affiliate sales for TTWN. “TrafficCarma provides commuters with the real-time traffic information they need to quickly make the best daily route decisions, and extends our media partners traffic brands with a new digital revenue source.”

Sil Scaglione, EVP and general manager for TrafficCarma at TrafficCast, noted, “With existing relationships in over 200 broadcast markets, it was clear the TTWN team would be the leading partner to bring this valuable traffic tool to the broadcast community. And, the inclusion of TTWN’s award-winning, real-time incident data enhances our existing TrafficCarma product even further.”
