Sansi LED has finished the installation of lighting for the tunnel section of China’s Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, which opened on Sunday (June 30, 2024)
The LEDs are deployed in smart, adjustable light strips, which can change color based on ambient temperature and traffic conditions. In emergencies, these lights can display directional color patterns to guide evacuations efficiently.
Lighting plays a crucial role in safety and traffic management on the crossing, with LED tunnel lights, linear lights, inspection lights, and low guardrail lights, all controlled by smart proprietary software. A smart visual monitoring system, installed in the central control center, allows real-time monitoring of tunnel lighting operations, offering enhanced management capabilities.
The 43km (28 mile) sea crossing includes 19 bridges, artificial islands, and the 6.8km (4.2 mile) tunnel, said to be the longest and widest of its kind anywhere in the world, and significantly reduces travel time between the two major Pearl River Delta cities from two hours to just 25 minutes.
The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge, connecting Shenzhen’s Bao’an International Airport area to Zhongshan, is expected to be a vital link in the region’s transportation network and has taken over seven years to complete, with construction beginning in May 2017.
