The Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority (THEA) is equipping its streetcars with V2X (vehicle-to-everything) equipment as part of its involvement in the US Department of Transportation’s (USDOT) connected vehicle pilot program. The equipment will help to prevent drivers from turning right when a streetcar is approaching, as well as alerting streetcar drivers when a road vehicle is turning in front of them.
