Virginia DOT is collaborating with Audi to roll out C-V2X functions across northern Virginia by the end of 2020. Day one use cases include work zone warnings for drivers and road workers (via connected high-vis vests) as well as green light countdown. The connected vehicle functionality uses both the cellular network and direct C-V2X between infrastructure and vehicles in the 5.9GHz band.
